DC Building Inc. is a general contracting firm specializing in premium timber frame construction in Oregon.

This means we create all-wood structures – custom barns, homes and commercial buildings – using the highest-quality wood and craftsmanship. Our experienced team will build it better, faster, period.

Because we are based in Oregon, many of our projects are in the western states: Oregon, Washington, Utah, Nevada and California. However, we are willing to travel across the nation for the right project.

• Medford, Oregon
  This beautiful Dover edition custom wood barn from Barn Pros, Inc. has six Dover stalls, a wash bay and tack room.
  
  
• Pine Hollow, Oregon
  This “barn” is overdone in every aspect of the word. The exterior is custom log like siding with skirl cedar siding above, two sets of timber frame gables and four knee braces wrap up the exterior of this stunning complex.
  
  
• Baker City, Oregon
  This cow facility in Baker City, Oregon was built in 2007. Downstairs features 4300 sq. ft. 14 stalls with double walls to protect the building from the animals and the animals from the building.

Timber framed structures use fewer, larger wood posts and beams than conventional construction. Furthermore, the frame is fastened using complex wood joinery such as wooden pegs, rather than nails or other mechanical fasteners. Modern timber frame construction offers increased stability and less dependence on bracing and minor joists than conventional construction – this is what gives the interior of timber frame homes and barns their large and lofty feel.

Timber frame construction also offers the advantage of time, as these structures can be erected quickly; in many cases a timber frame barn or home can be erected in a matter of days, and ready for windows, mechanical systems and roofing in a week or two.

There is a rich American tradition of using timber frame construction, dating back to the earliest settlers in Virginia in the 1600’s. Today timber frame construction is experiencing a resurgence thanks to recent advances in computer precision-cut timbers, adhesives and insulation materials.
